We have to do a Proofreading with the TagEditor (the files are in .ttx-format and the text must be imported in Indesign after proofing) and the question is, whether we can open the *.inx.ttx-files simply in the TagEditor, directly correct them there and save the changed file or if we have to create new Translation Memories? What is actually relevant for reimporting into Indesign? Thanks in advance for you help!

Proofreading in TagEditor and Indesign.. Oct 30, 2008

There is always the File Format Reference Guide in Trados:

Synergy and TagEditor support InDesign CS2/CS3 files which are exported directly from InDesign CS2/CS3 as InDesign Interchange Format (INX). INX is an XML-based exchange format file. The INX files are often smaller than the InDesign INDD files as they do not contain graphics but rather references to the graphics.

Although InDesign CS files could be exported to InDesign Interchange Format, only INX files from InDesign CS2/CS3 are supported by Synergy or TagEditor. INX files from earlier versions are not supported.

In InDesign use the File > Export option to export the file you want to translate to InDesign Interchange Format (INX). This operation can be performed on either Mac or PC.

- I think your proofreading should be easy to export either way. Just set your TM to ex. Eng - Eng?

TTX and InDesign Oct 31, 2008

If the file you have is a TTX, you can of course open it in TagEditor for proofing. But you will have to have the original INX to restore the translated INX. Otherwise the export into INX will fail.
