Hi there,

RegEx file filter doesn't seem to work in Trados 2007 Suite (TE build 863).

Here is the message displayed:

"Error when using plug-in file filters:

Hi there,

"Error when using plug-in file filters:

Then, TE shows this error (even though the file type is available in the drop down menu in Open dialog box):

"(8003): TagEditor is unable to open this document because the file type is not recognized."

Also, SDL Generic Delimited file filter crashes (access denied to the tmp.xml file).

Anyone with the same problem? Any workaround?

Problem solved Nov 14, 2008

SDL support kindly helped me solve the problem (a DLL file didn't update properly - had to do it manually).

Error when using plug-in file filters:

Unexpected failure in Codepage property for COM plug-in component
RegExFileFilter.TextFileFileScanner

Explanation

This error indicates that the EncodingTools.dll component was not updated properly during installation.

Resolution

To fix this issue, perform the following two procedures:

Uninstall the invalid encoding tools dll:

1. Go to the Start menu and select Start > Run. The Run dialog box is displayed. (If you are using Windows Vista, press [Win] + [R] to open the Run dialog box.)
2. Type Assembly in the Open box and click OK. The Assembly list is displayed.
3. Right-click on EncodingTools.dll and select Uninstall from the shortcut menu.
4.
Go to the following location on your computer:
5. C:\Program Files\SDL International\T2007\TT Delete the EncodingTools.dll file.
The invalid encoding tool dll is now removed from your computer.

Reinstall the correct encoding tools dll version:

1. Go to the Start menu and select Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs. (If you are using Windows Vista, go to Program Files and Features.) The Add or Remove Programs dialog box is displayed
2. Select SDL Trados … from the list and click Change. (If you are using Windows Vista, click Repair) This will reinstall the correct version of the EncodingTools.dll file.
3. Now try opening your file in TagEditor.
