I have exported the termbase from Excel file (MT convert) in to an MT termbase, and everything works perfectly except for that I can not add new entries in it. The error doesn't have any particular number, just a grey notification window with "null" in it and the next window with "java.lang.NullPointerException".

Should I change anything in the Input model? What can be the problem and how it can be solved?

Thank you in advance.

Thank you, psicutrinius.

I have posted this question in that thread (the solution didn't help).

There is also (possibly: hopefully not) extra work to do... Dec 20, 2008

There are also other points to be taken into account here, as Jerzy (mainly) points out: Like finding out how many (and which) JRE versions do you have in your PC and make sure you have no one beyond the proper (for trados, that is), one, or that you have not updated this one beyond a certain update number...

Cheer up. Were it not for those delightful details with trados, life might be quite boring for us translators.

Try the next lower version of Java Dec 20, 2008

Go to
http://java.sun.com/products/archive/
and download the next lower version of Java, if it doesn't work, try the next lower version.

Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment
Standard Edition 1.4.2_08
j2re-1_4_2_08-windows-i586-p.exe

This is the highest version that works on my machine.

Be sure to remove the existing java version and always restart the computer before and after any new installation.

Go through Word Dec 22, 2008

I have this problem too, and I can't yet be bothered to solve it at source.

Since I find the MultiTerm menu in Word easier to use than the MultiTerm interface itself, I simply enter terms via Word. Also, I can still delete terms directly in MultiTerm, so if an edit is required, I simply delete the entry in MultiTerm and reenter it via Word.

This is a good workaround if you don't feel like tinkering with Java.

So far I could add new entries in Workbench, while translating, so I think I'll do it this way - and probably try to reinstall the older version of Java later.
