Hello!

I have TagEditor, Version 8.0 and I am experiencing some problems when trying to open a Word document. When I try to open a segment, it breaks the words inserting tags between the letters even if the letters have exactly the same formatting:

(Tag)Made(Tag)(Tag)In(Tag)(Tag)USA(Tag)

or

(Tag)(Tag)M(Tag)(Tag)A(Tag)(Tag)D(Tag)(Tag)E(Tag)

I hope it is clear and you can help me!

Thank you very much,

OCR? Feb 28, 2009

These tags are invisible tags in the Word file. Most likely, the source text has been scanned and converted into Word with an OCR tool. The tags often are spacing/kerning tags and other layout tags.

Open the Word doc and reformat the entire file to use the same character spacing, scale, kerning settings etc. I'm pretty sure when you open the file again in TE, most of those pesky tags will have disappeared. There might still be some unnecessary font changes left, but those tags should mostly be at the beginning or end of a segment and not cause too many problems.

HTH!

Correct the formatting of the source document Mar 1, 2009

TagEditor is opening everything very well.
What you see there is the way the user (autor) has formatted the document.
From what you tell us here it looks like the formatting of the source would be not very good - but this does not mean TagEditor is doing anything wrong.
