Luckily I knew from experience that SDL Trados is unreliable and the TM databases are not safe. So when I was cleaning a file and an error message appeared ( 31102 Key too long - IIX file, etc, etc.) I thought I'd be clever and reorganise the TM immediately.
After this move the TM (all files, except mentioned IIX file) was gone. Disappeared. In Luft aufgelöst, as they say in German. Perdu. Verdwenen. A TM that took years to build was simply and irretrievably gone by a simple, standard procedure. Again.
I swear I did not do anything else and I know how to look for a file.
Just as a warning example if you depend on SDL Trados:
Reorganisation TMs is dangerous
Exporting or importing TMs is dangerous
Backup your TMs daily!
