I open a file (any format) in TagEditor and start translating. Then I save the TTX file, but the saved file has 0 bytes and can not be opened again!

Without saving the TTX, I can save target as.... and it works fine.

I tried removing SDL Trados 2007 completely from my computer, then reinstalled it. Same thing again. This probably means there is something wrong with my computer software.

Anyone with any suggestions?

How about Workbench? Mar 23, 2009

Have you tried translating the files with Workbench (possibly with an empty TM)? This should give you untranslated ttxes, or more pronounced error indication.

One possibility is that TagEditor loses access to files - it is very sensitive in that respect. You might try turning off your virus protection (with Internet disconnected, if you prefer) for a while and see how it goes...

Please check your Javas and .NET software Mar 23, 2009

And please tell me the versions you have there.
It is indeed a very strange problem - do you use Vista by any chance and then have problems with access rights?

check B: if you take a plain-vanilla DOC file and ask TWB (translation memory options > tools) to use TradosTag format, what happens in Tageditor?

No other Java? Mar 23, 2009

Did you have .NET Framework 2 SP1 BEFORE you installed Trados?
And do you have JRE 5 Update 10 and JRE 5 Update 12 on your system?
If not, no Trados function may be expected to work well.
