Liebe Kollegen, ein Kunde von mir hat bei mir die Übersetzung eines Handbuchs angefragt, das in Framemaker verfasst ist. Nun habe ich nachgeschaut und gesehen, dass die Übersetzung einer exportierten Framemaker-Datei mit dem Tag-Editor problemlos möglich sein sollte. Da es ein großer Text ist, wüsste ich gerne vorab, ob man hier Probleme zu erwarten hat und ob man beim Export und beim Bearbeiten Besonderheiten beachten muss.

Wichtig wäre für mich auch, zu wissen, ob ich Framemaker haben muss oder ob es genügt, wenn der Kunde mir die exportierte Datei (.mif) schickt.
Und zum Letzten: Sind beim Zurückkonvertieren Formatprobleme zu erwarten? Sind große Nacharbeiten notwendig?

Je nach Sprache sind mehr oder weniger Nacharbeiten erforderlich.
Ich gehe davon aus, dass es in Spanische geht. Dann wird der Kunde je nach Layout Platz für den Mehrtext schaffen müssen. Für dich bedeutet das aber eigentlich keine Probleme.
Wenn du den Auftrag annimst: bitte unbedingt die Anweisungen in File Format Reference Guide befolgen! Der Prozess ist dort sehr gut beschrieben.

Du brauchst Framemaker nicht unbedingt, wenn MIF-Dateien vorliegen.
Pass bei den Tags entsprechend auf - einige darf man entfernen, schau im File Format Reference Guide nach.

die Forumsprache ist leider Englisch. Meine Antwort deshalb auch.
The translation of Framemaker files in TE or even in Word (RTF files) usually presents no problems. You should, however, bear in mind that some graphic symbols are represented by a group of tags with one single character in the middle. That's the only thing you should be careful about, at least AFAIK.

The potential differences in processing of Framemaker depend on its version. While FM 7 did not support Unicode, Framemaker 8 supports it and makes the processing easier.
However, the S-Tagger for Framemaker had some issues with FM 8, which have been (mostly) settled with SDL Trados 2007 Suite (8.3.0.863).
