Although I can see the Trados menu on the Word toolbar, whenever I click on it to use commands such as "Fix document", the dropdown menu doesn't display. Instead it seems to "want" to show me a callout, but nothing really happens.

The Trados toolbar does show as normal and the Workbench works perfectly, I just don't have access to the Trados menu options, and this happens all the time, whether I have had problems with the document or not.

I have already verified that the Trados template is saved to its appropriate folders, so I don't think the problem is coming from there.

Has anyone had this problem? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hi Daniela,

I've had the same issue with TRADOS 8.
Now, it's displaying the menu again. The template is in the C:\Documents and Settings\[YourUserName]\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP
(I think I've copied it there at some point)
Where is yours? If it's not in that folder, try and copy it there.
You might have to delete the original one, once you know the solution works, otherwise, you'll have two TRADOS menu.

Hope this helps,
Nicolas

Thanks for your response, Nicolas. The template is in the appropriate directory. I started by checking that, and I do see the Trados menu, just like I see File, Edit, View, etc. in the Word top toolbar. The problem is that when I click on the Trados menu from this toolbar, the options of the menu don't show (hence, I don't have access to functions like "fix document"). I also see the Trados Toolbar with all the commands icons...

Turn off other templates May 13, 2009

This happens to me every time I have other templates and add-ins active, so I turn off all others and leave only TRADOS. Not elegant but functional.

Other templates are off May 13, 2009

Thanks for your suggestion, Luisa. I verified that all the other templates and add-ins are not checked (from Word, Tools-Templates and Add-Ins), only TRADOS8.dot... I'm starting to think that I'll have to reinstall...

in the meantime... May 13, 2009

When you need to fix a document, you can directly run the macro tw4inResetDocument.Main in the Macros windows.
I know it's not THE ultimate solution, but I thought you might want to know that in case of an emergency -instead of CTRL+Z, CTRL+Z, CTRL+Z, CTRL+Z, etc. - while you find a solution to your problem.
You could try and reinstall the whole sw. Sometimes, installing other tools messes up your TRADOS install. I think this happened to me after installing Logoport.

Good luck!
Nicolas
