My apologies if this has been asked before, but now that the Windows 7 release candidate is available, does anyone have any experience with using it together with any version of Trados?

Cheers,
Soren

yes May 16, 2009

Yes, Trados 2007 and 2009 are compatible with Windows 7.
There should be two other threads on this topic.

Don't know about Windows 7, but... May 17, 2009

Here is the solution for installing Trados any version on Windows Vista:

Turn User Account Control Off (http://www.royalia.com/translation/installing-trados-on-windows-vista/3)

You could give it a try (and let us know).

Hi Soren,
I don't think working under an OS release candidate on commercial project is a good idea at all. But that's only my impression, so take it with a pinch of salt.

Works fine May 20, 2009

Well, I do have a backup pc, so it's not so bad.

I installed Windows 7 today and it just went *so* well. I was flabbergasted.

Office 2003 and Trados 7 installed with no problems and are working fine.

Will update in case of any trouble.

Cheers,
Soren

windows 7 breaks a feature May 28, 2009

Windows 7, when used with Tageditor, breaks the following feature:
- tageditor does not select the entire text in a word that is right next to a tag. For example: you double-click on "finish" and Tageditor should select the entire word. Instead it selects "finis", without the final letter. This does not occur if the last letter before the tag is a separator (comma, brackets, space). I'm complaining about this because when you spellcheck the document, words are truncated.

For the moment I avoid Windows 7 and I don't think the little bug above will be fixed.

Cannot Import TM or create BAK Jul 21, 2009

I don't know if Window 7 is to blame, but I have been very much troubled by the fact that Trados cannot import a TM file into any existing memory. And recently I find that whenever I do a Word cleanup, the BAK file is not created....

Any one?

Importing is definitely not a Windows 7 problem Sep 3, 2009

Dengken, it is definitely not a Windows 7 problem. I have Windows XP, and Trados 7 behaves in the same way. Very annoying because it means I cannot import my existing TMs in the new version.

Dear Soren,

I installed Office 2003 and when I opened Word, the following message appeared: Could not load Trados 8.dot template (or something of the sort).

Does anyone know how to solve this?

Thanks!

Leticia

You need the Trados Word template Aug 26, 2010

Dear Leticia

This thread is about Trados and Windows 7, so your question about Office 2003 does not really belong here. Please open a separate thread for non directly related questions, otherwise readers get confused when a thread on a given topic suddenly starts to discuss different topics than the initial one.

The answer to your questions is simple: you need to copy the template TRADOS8.DOTM into the STARTUP folder of Word. This is done automatically when you install the Trados SW, but if you install a new version of Office afterwards, Trados cannot know that and the new, 2003 specific template does not get installed.

You'll find the template at: c:\Program Files\SDL International\T2007\TT\Templates\
Copy the TRADOS8.DOTM to c:\Users\wbl\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP\.

Any more recent experience with Trados 7 in Windows 7? Apr 5, 2011

Hi, I am getting ready to upgrade my computer and was wondering if anyone had any more recent experience, good or bad, they would like to report on this (Trados 7 in Windows 7)? I would particularly like to know if the word selection problem has been fixed, but also in general if everything is still working fine. I have Suite 2009 but have had to switch back to 2007 for client and technical reasons.

Thank you,
Sonya
