Dear all, I have an Eng (Br. Eng.) >Target TM. Is there any way that I could change this into Eng. (Am. Eng.)>Target? I tried with the export function wanting to export the existing EngBr TM and import it into EngAm TM, but it cannot be done that way. Any ideas? Thanks for your answers, Nika
Use this free tool to open the TM and export it re-assigning source and target languages.

Hi Sergei, This Xbench software is for Mac. Is there a similar software for Win Vista?
A workaround | May 19, 2009 |
Hi Nika, you can try the following workaround: 1) Export your ENGB TM into a TXT file. 2) Open the TXT file with the Notepad. 3) Press CTRL+F and replace EN-GB with EN-US. 4) Open the ENUS translation memory you have previously created. 5) Import. This should work.

Apsic Xbench is for Windows actually, but you don't need it. Just take your export file, open it in a text editor (Notepad is terribly slow, choose another one if you can, or just use MS Word). Replace EN-GB or EN-UK with EN-US, save and import to a new TM.

Dear all, thank you for being so helpful, all the solutions seem great, but I cannot check if they work, because I hit the wall somewhere else. When I opened the txt file I exported from my Trados TM, I found out that there were no entries!, just the fist part, preamble (fonts etc.). Is it possible that there is nothing in my TM? When I search the concordance there are hits. Have I clicked any setting by mistake that now I cannot see the entries? I imported my old txt into the exist... I imported my old txt into the existing one and it went okay, but there are only old documents and no trace of the new ones. Please, guys, can you give me a hand with this one, too? Export Filter Settings | May 20, 2009 |
Hi Nika, it seems like you have used some export filter settings that are a bit too restrictive. In the "Export" dialog box, only add the Languages into the "Field" list. In other words, click on "English (United Kingdom)" and click "Add". Then click "Slovenian" (I suppose that's the target language in your case) and click "Add" again. Then click "OK".
