Hello,

I'm using SDL Trados 2007 Suite Professional (Build 863) on Windows XP (SP3) with
MultiTerm 2007 SP1 (Build 448). I had the java.lang.nullpointer problem,
but managed to get rid of it by uninstalling and reinstalling Workbench, Multiterm,
Java, and .Net. But now when I try to set the "Terminology Recognition Options"
for Translator's Workbench, I cannot select Multiterm 7. When I select it I get the
following error message:

I'm using SDL Trados 2007 Suite Professional (Build 863) on Windows XP (SP3) with
MultiTerm 2007 SP1 (Build 448). I had the java.lang.nullpointer problem,
but managed to get rid of it by uninstalling and reinstalling Workbench, Multiterm,
Java, and .Net. But now when I try to set the "Terminology Recognition Options"
for Translator's Workbench, I cannot select Multiterm 7. When I select it I get the

"Multiterm 7: Cannot Create: The selected Term Information Provider returned the
following error: (-2147467259): Undefined error"

I tried the method explained in the "TW 2007 cannot find MultiTerm 2007" posting,
but it had no effect. I have disabled Java's use of next-generation, and used the
"*self register*.bat" files, etc... , but nothing has worked. Earlier this year I installed
(and later removed) the beta version of the SDL Trados 2009 Suite, but did not use
terminology recognition at that time.

I have spent the entire day searching Proz.com, the SDL website, and Google.
I am starting to get desperate as I have a project about to start next week.
Any advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Just a quick update.

According to one of our technical services people, there might
have been entries from the SDL Trados 2009 Suite left in the
registry, but he wasn't sure. So in the end I had to reinstall my
computer from scratch (an expensive, time-consuming lesson).

Had the same problem Jun 10, 2009

The SDL Support connected to my computer over remote desktop, sent me their registry sweeper utility and wiped off any remaining MT2009 registry entries.
I guess they could make this small utility available to public.

Stanislav,

thanks for your posting. Good(?) to hear that I was not alone with
this problem. Unfortunately, due to company security rules remote
desktop connections are not possible (a small problem with being
a subsidiary of a large, conservative company).

The odd thing is that I did not install MultiTerm 2009, just Rivelin.
Of course, installing only half of the pair could be what caused the
problem.
