Tageditor Jun 19, 2009

Use Tageditor to open a PPT file, and then it will be converted into .ttx file. You can proceed the translation in Tageditor. After you complete the translation, save the translation into PPT file.

Read the manual first Jun 19, 2009

Before you embark in using TagEditor, read that portion of the TRADOS manual and learn about saving as target or saving as bilingual, and all the stuff about tags.

Tag Editor Jun 19, 2009

Hi.
Open Tag Editor, open in TE the ppt file. It takes a couple of minutes to load it, at least in my computer. Translate it like you translate all the time. When finished save as target, automatically it will show the ppt option to save, otherwise you chose it. And finally you’ll have your translated ppt. Check editing, sometimes it needs some arrangements. Not difficult at all.

Yes Jun 19, 2009

Like everybody else said, very easy to do. You will need to edit the layout of the PowerPoint files afterwards, it usually gets messed up (due to the different length of the text)

Be aware of the notes Jun 20, 2009

You should also be aware if the Power Point presentation contains notes, and if the client wants these notes to be translated.
I use Trados 8 where there is a check mark, so that I can leave the notes out in Tageditor, so they don't show. A good thing to know if the client doesn't pay for them.
I don't remember what it is like in the Trados 7 version.

Thank you! Jun 22, 2009

Thank you so much for all your help.
As I am a beginner with the tool, I decided not to use PP this time.
I think I need to joggle around more before I can finally use it confidently.
Thank you all!
