I have just translated my first document in Trados after taking a crash course (are there any regular courses out there that last at least a couple of weeks, which I am assuming is the time you need to really figure out what Trados is about and get to ask all the questions you might have?).
After I cleaned up the file, it just disappeared from my desktop.
Here's what the log says:
(-2147417851): The server threw an exception.

File skipped!

Cleanup Total (0 files):

Segments Words Chars/Word Placeables
Cleaned 411 1,923 4.76 0
Updated 24 111 4.49 0
Total 440 2,043 4.74 0

Cleanup finished. Warning: 1 error occurred (see above for details)!

What does this mean, and where could my file have disappeared?

Thanks in advance,

Biljana

Could please provide some information? Jun 20, 2009

Hi Biljana,

In order to provide some help, you must give us some information regarding the software versions you are using. Which version of Windows, which version of Trados, were you working in Word/Workbench, were you working in TagEditor, were you working in the latest version, Studio 2009?

Regards
Lina

Hi Lina,
I am using Windows XP, Trados 7 Freelance and was working in Word/Workbench and not Tag Editor.
I hope this is enough information, if not I can provide more (hopefully).
Regards,
Biljana

I googled your question... Jun 20, 2009

...and found that it (or something very like it) has been discussed before. Have a look here:

is there any way to retrieve the lost file? Jun 20, 2009

Lina, thank you. I read all the postings and hope this will work for all my future translations. But do you know if there's anyway to retrieve the lost file?
Regards,
Biljana

You must have the memory Jun 20, 2009

Therefore all you need to do is translate a new file using the memory you have following the instructions in the linked discussion.

Try that and see if it works.
