Hi, another problem with Studio 2009:
When the is a time in the source segment, Trados translates is automatically, which is good, but mostly incorrectly, which is bad.
(Please see the screenshot.)

Any idea what am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Karel

Try this... Jul 10, 2009

Hi Karel,

This looks to be your auto-localization settings. Auto-localization is the process by which SDL Trados Studio 2009 automatically adapts the format of date and time elements to suit the target language of your current translation.

Please follow these instructions if you wish to change them:

1. Go to Project > Project Settings
2. On the left-hand navigation pane choose Language Pairs > choose your language pairs > Translation Memory and Automated Translation > Auto-localization
3. Under Long time choose "H:mm:ss
4. Do the same for Short time
5. Press OK to save all changes and then please try again.

I hope this helps.

Many Thanks,

Gareth Powell

It's not you, it's the auto-localization feature Jul 10, 2009

You can turn off or partially turn off the auto-localization feature. Read this post: http://spedr.com/k9x4

It is not a feature, it is a big missunderstanding Jul 10, 2009

Sorry, dear guys from SDL Support.
AutoLocalization "feature" is something I've been critisizing since I first seen Studio.
What Studio does with numbers is a catasrophe! I can't put this differently.
For example, my customers write:
"4.1 Servicing"
Studio segments this to:
"4.1"
"Servicing"
And for "4.1" I get a match "4,1" and this gets auto propagaded, if I'm not careful enough. So when translating I have to every now and then go back and correct such errors. Annoying, really badly annoying. And I am not able to customize ANY of the Auto Localization setitings, as it was possible in Suite. This is not "Innovation delivered", this is back to dark agesicon_frown.gif
Many features in Studio are good or really good, but this one, together with the way of showing differencies between current match and TM search result are completly crap.

Please do something about this, and do that fast.
Thanks a bunch
Kind regards
Jerzy

That is indeed so, but... Jul 10, 2009

This means much more work for you - and you have the danger of making numbering mistakes, which are unfortunately very common.
Transit can do much better here.
