I have just discovered the weirdest thing. I have Vista, word 2007, but working on a 2003 Word doc in Trados Workbench 2007 build 863.

I was having problems cleaning a file and continually got the message "(87): paramètre incorrect."

By a process of elimination I found that the workbench refused to clean this date:
"le 24 août 1572". (It was an historical text about Paris).

I created a new word doc with just this date in it and it will not clean up!
change it to "le 24 août 1672" and workbench works normally.

Does Trados have trouble with French dates more than say four hundred years ago?

Or is there more to the Da Vinci code than I thought?

Same problem Jun 7, 2010

When I attempted to pre-translate a file I got the same error message (87 - the parameter is incorrect).

Your post, Mark, gave me a clue as to what was going wrong. Eventually, I tracked down the problem to a rogue date: the author had written 20/05/1010 rather than 20/05/2010. I simply added a thousand years to the date and the problem was fixed

So it would seem that Trados has a problem with old dates for some reason...

I'm using Translator's Workbench Version 7.5 Freelance.

Starting from 1601... Jun 7, 2010

Not only French.
Trados handles the date conversion starting from 1601.
It's a bug in the leap day handling in the gregorian calendar.

It may be also a problem blindly inheritated from Windows (some Windows time related data, e.g. the NTFS file system data stamp assume the 1 January 1601 as the starting point).
So when you put an inferior number, the data are out of range.
For earlier dates, a different procedure should be used.

Cheers

Same issue, thanks guys! Mar 30, 2012

The file name had a footnote that wasn't even a date, was the name of a Circular Letter # 1300-03-11, and Trados 8 would not clean up the file. I've been doing online research for about an hour now until I found this post will help me figure it out. I removed it from source and target, and the problem was fixed.

Thank you!!!
