Hi, I use Trados 2007, is it possible to carry out spelling & grammar checks on unclean Word files in Workbench so that I can send my customer both the clean and unclean spellchecked files, because it's very time-consuming to go into each segment and spellcheck it individually!
Thanks in advance

Hide the source text Jul 28, 2009

Hello Jenny,

I simply hide the source text highlight the whole text and set the target language. Spell-checking is then a neat job

IIRC, the Word spellchecker skips the hidden text. As Trados has already marked your source segments as hidden, you simply need to uncheck the 'Show hidden text' checkbox in Tools > Options and then press F7 to run the spell checker.

HTH.

Word version Jul 30, 2009

It would really help to know which Word version you're using.

You need to go into "Display", which is either under "Word Options" in the main menu of Word 2007 or under Tools>Options in Word 2003 (I think; it's been a few weeks since I last used Word 2003). Unchecking "hidden text" will display only the target.

Reversing the process will give you an unclean file that you can send to your client.

hidden text shortcut Jul 30, 2009

As the others rightly say, uncheck "hidden text" and you won't see it anymore.
but if you want a quick glance at it, just click on "show all" or its short cut which is ctrl shift (
click on it again to hide it, or short cut
ctrl shift )
I only discovered it a couple of months ago, and find it really useful!

Can't you see it on the main screen when you click Tools>Options? I think it's "View" and as far as I recall it's visible by default.
