TagEditor toolbar doesn't seem to be working

Hello,

I have TagEditor 8.0, Windows Vista and Office 2007.

I need to translate a xls file but the Trados toolbar is disabled, except for the Open key that doesn't work either.

When I try to translate a word file using the workbench alone I get this error message: "Trados Translator's workbench is not running."

How can I solve it?

I hope you can help me.

Thanks.

Lorena

Connect your TWB Aug 4, 2009

Hello Lorena,

most probably your TWB is not connected (with TagEditor). If this is the problem the TWB icon is greyed out. Click on "Connect Workbench".

.. or any chance that the opened TM has a diffrent source or target language? For ex US-EN instead of UK-EN? It happens to me with IT-IT & CH-IT.

Sorry, I got distracted & clicked on OK before signing my posting...

Giuliana

Thanks... Aug 4, 2009

Hello Giuliana,

Thanks for your response. When I click on Connect WB, I get this error message: "Attempt to start Translator's Workbench failed."

The open TM has US-SP and the info of the file to be translated shows no target language specified.

I reinstalled trados to see if this fixed the problem but it didn't.

hhmm.. have you tried to open TWB directly? Aug 4, 2009

Hello Lorena,

I normally open TWB first and then TagEditor, that is open TWB, open the specific memory, then TagEditor, click on open file, file is opened (if already created before/by the agency) or imported.

Have you tried this way? Maybe re-importing the file into TagEditor, so that any potential language mismatch is cleared?

BTW, sorry, perhaps a silly question, but let me ask it anyway: I presume you chose all languages you translate from/into during Trados installation?

Giuliana

Yes... Aug 4, 2009

Yes, I chose the languages I usually work with during installation.

I also opened WB first but nothing changed.

I have always had problems with trados. It's a never ending story.

Anyway, thank you very much for your help.

I'll keep on trying.

Have a nice day.

Lorena
