Problem with licence/opening of Work Bench (SDL Trados 2007 Suite Freelance)

My work bench was working perfectly ... until this morning!

It simply does not open and I get constantly the following message.

"An error occured while trying to verify the licence.
Please check the installation and try again.
Translator's Workbench Freelance" will now close"


Maybe this is due to some Windows update. I tried to return the key and to reactivate the licence, to reinstall the programm, but to no avail.

Does anybody know how to to solve this problem.

Already open Aug 15, 2009

A common reason for this problem is that Workbench is already open (and perhaps minimised) and you are trying to load a second instance. Make sure Workbench is not running and try again.

No, unfortunately, no other Workbench is running. I restarted my computer many times, but this does not help either.

Network? Aug 16, 2009

Hi,
are you running Workbench in a network? If so, there might be another Workbench instance running on a different machine connected to the same network.
Change the workgroup name of your machine to resolve this.

Hello Stanislav,

No, I am not running Worrkbench in a network.

In the meantime I found out that if I return the licence, I manage to open Workbench in demo mode (with which I cannot work of course !), but as soon as I reactivate the licence and try to reopen the Workbench I get the error message (see above).

Very mysterious and ... catastrophic !

you are elligible for free support by SDL on installation and licensing issues. If you can't reactivate your license, you should submit a support ticket and wait for the SDL support staff to contact you. They are very helpful.
