Difference between my analysis and the client's analysis Thread poster: Laure Trads

Hi,
I use Trados 8.2.0.835.
A client sent me a TM and an analysis for an .inx file.
He gets :
Match Types Segments Words Percent Placeables
Context TM 0 0 0 0
Repetitions 97 766 10 127
100% 252 2,353 31 190
95% - 99% 3 10 0 0
85% - 94% 2 18 0 0
75% - 84% 16 86 1 25
50% - 74% 4 23 0 5
No Match 401 4,380 58 342
Total 775 7,636 100 689
I have created a TM, using from English US to French France, imported his .txt file and run an analysis. I get:
Match Types Segments Words Percent Placeables
Context TM 0 0 0 0
Repetitions 99 770 10 158
100% 216 1,919 25 124
95% - 99% 0 0 0 0
85% - 94% 0 0 0 0
75% - 84% 0 0 0 0
50% - 74% 0 0 0 0
No Match 460 4,947 65 577
Total 775 7,636 100 859
Why? What am I missing? Why do I not have any fuzzy matches?
Second strange behaviour:
With some segments, if I use "Shorten segment", I suddenly get a 100% match, although I did not get any fuzzy match before shortening the segment. For instance, I get zero result, fuzzy or else, with:
TAG F1, F2, F3 TAG Programmable function keys TAG
But I get a 100% match, as soon as I shorten to:
TAG F1, F2, F3 TAG Programmable function keys
Any help gratefully received...
Laure
PS: I checked with him that he did send me the same TM. He says he definitely has.

Hi Laure,
Not sure my experience will help, but I had the exact same problem. I searched a bit, and it turned out my import had not worked properly. I reimported the .txt TM and obtained the same analysis as my client. Did you try reimporting the .txt TM a second time, in the same TM you created?

I did try again and unfortunately got the same result.
I wonder if this is to do with parameters.

As your example hints that it may be tag-related, maybe this option is checked in your Trados and not in theirs.
The solution is likely to be in different TM options between you and your customer.
Good luck,

We did compare our penalties options: they are identical.

Maybe you're using a different sub-language. | | | Problem solved | Aug 22, 2009 |
The .txt file that the client sent was probably corrupted.
I asked him to send the .twm and the rest of the TM files. It is now working normally, I get the same matches as the client, everything is back to normal.
I wish I had thought of that straight away, rather than wasting so many hours reinstalling Trados, creating numerous TMs, etc.
