Why so many Tags in Studio? Working with FrameMaker files

Dear Collegues,

Again I have a question concerning Trados Studio. I am working with FrameMaker files from French to German and there are many segments where the font color is set differently (mostly blue) I have the tag "fontcolorblue" starting those segments and "/cnf" as a closing tag. But when the blue sentence is longer than one line (but still one segment) I have those tags in every line! i.e. I have about 8 identical tags in one segment!

Is it really necessary to copy all those tags? If I only take one starting and one closing tag, the whole text is blue as it should be.
What can this be? And can I simply ignore all those tags?

I used to work with Trados Freelance 7 before... Now everything has changed (to my great advantage I think!).

Thanks for your answers.

Leena

Indeed Sep 2, 2009

Hi Leena,
if I were you, I would keep all tags in the target to be on the safe side. Some of them may be used excessively, but who knows exactly.
I believe the high number of tags is due to the lack of technical expertise of the document author and you cannot do anything about it.

Good Morning Stanislav

Thanks for your answer.

Maybe I should ask the authors...

It's only that when working with my old freelance version, I had no problems at all with those tags.

Thank you and have a nice day.

Leena

Then why not prepare a TTX in your old freelance version and run that in Studio?

No old version Sep 3, 2009

Hi Wolfgang

that would be a bit too complicated...

And by the way, I had to give up my old freelance licence in order to upgrade to Studio.

And I think its a great advantage being able to work without the STagger...

Thanks nevertheless.

Leena

"Old" version indeed Sep 3, 2009

Hi Leena,
if you upgraded to Studio, you can still use your previous version of Trados (2007). Please follow the instructions published on talisma.sdl.com.
