Hello!

I need some help.

I have Trados 2007 installed on my PC and now I need to reinstall Word 2000 or may be whole Office package. Do I need to do something with Trados 2007 before reinstallation and after it?

Help will be greately appreciated!

Hi,
basically, all you need is to backup the Trados8.dot file and move it back to the appropriate folder once you have reinstalled Word.
However, if you are not sure about what to do, please follow this routine:
1. Return your Trados License via the License Manager
2. Uninstall Trados and Word (Office)
3. Install Word (Office)
4. Install Trados
5. Activate Trados

No.
If the Trados toolbar is not shown after the Word reinstallation, you'll find enough infos here.

Trados8.dot(m) Sep 3, 2009

Put simply, the Trados8.dot (Word 2003 and earlier) or Trados8.dotm (Word 2007) is in fact a document template, as the file extension suggests, that contains a set of macros that provide for the interaction between Word and Translator's Workbench. If you delete or move it from the folder where it is installed, the Trados toolbar/ribbon bar will disappear from Word.
If you are asked whether or not to save any changes to this file, always select NO. Please visit talisma.sdl.com for more information about how to resolve this annoying message.

It's the interface between Trados Workbench and Word.
It contains all the macros Word uses to exchange data with Trados Workbench.

The best solution is to say no.
If youa say yes, in most cases it has no effect but sometimes the file gets corrupt when saved.
The latest well known shit is the MS Office Live Add-in.
Uninstall it.
