I work for a U.S. government agency. I have just been informed that as part of an agreement with Microsoft, the agency's employees have the opportunity to purchase Microsoft 2007 Enterprise for an extremely low price for our personal use at home.

My TRADOS version is 2007 Studio freelance. So far, I have been reluctant to upgrade from Microsoft Office 2003 to Office 2007 (as well as to TRADOS Studio 2009, at least until the first patch comes out), but this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I would not want to miss it if I can be assured that I will not encounter major problems.

What advice would you have for me in terms of compatibility and known problems?

The "personal home use" may signify "no commercial use", beware.

The Enterprise versions are basically like Professional but some additional components may be disponible and the licencing may differ (e.g. no activation for Office 2003).
I used several times Trados on Office Enterprise, don't worry.

Cheers
