Dear folks

A couple of weeks ago I lost my Trados toolbar following a System update and managed to get that sorted with the kind help of the ProZ fraternity) But I also lost my Trados menu. Despite ploughing through the forum database, I'm still confused as to how I can rectify this. Any help would be hugely appreciated. I use Word 2002 and Trados 7. Cheers,

Chris Dawe

I suggest you... Oct 5, 2009

Hi Chris,

I'm a trados beginner user and I had the same problem you have right now (I suppose )
I can suggest you to go to "Tools", then "Templates and additions" and you just add Trados.dot.
It should work.

Eleonora

Adding Trados Menu Oct 5, 2009

Hi Chris,
If none of those elements appears, please do the following to rectify the situation:
1.With the Windows Explorer, look for the C:\\Program Files\\TRADOS\\(T55, T6, T65 or something similar)\\TT\\Templates folder.
2.Copy the template TW4Win2k.dot, TRADOS5.dot or TRADOS6.dot (etc.) to the C:\\Progam Files\\Microsoft Office\\OFFICE\\(Word)\\STARTUP folder.
3.When starting Word, the TWB bar should now appear underneath the other bars of Word.
Of course, if these programs are installed to another disc, please change the disc letter.
Hope it will help. In my own case it did.

Trados.dot Oct 5, 2009

Hi Eleonora

Thanks v much. I have tried that, but when I do:

Templates & Add-ins
Add
Trados.dot
Click OK

I get "This folder is empty". I currently have Trados8.dot with a tick in it. This seems to have surreptitiously installed itself after the System update. Trados7.dot simply also says "This folder is empty". When I close Word I get "Do you want to save the changes to Trados8?" Baffling, to poor lil me!

Chris

TOOLS > MACRO > MACROS > ADD > ALL ACTIVE TEMPLATE AND DOCUMENTS > RUN Oct 5, 2009

Hi Selcuk

I found this solution from Tadzio Carvallo in one of those threads and it worked like a dream:

On Word's menu bar:

"TOOLS > MACRO > MACROS > ADD > ALL ACTIVE TEMPLATE AND DOCUMENTS > RUN

This is the best way to keeping steady the Trados menu on Word's menu bar".

Cheers

Chris
