I recently bought Trados 2009 Freelance Plus (or Trados Freelance 2009 Plus, or something) and I see in my license manager that I have a 1-year license for "Translator's Workbench - Machine Translation, Version 8.0". If I google for that exact string, I get 3 results, none of which are useful to me. Can anyone shed some light on what this easter egg is?
You can use a machine translation engine (provided by a MT SDL server accessible via Internet) for some language pairs (AFAIR, EN > DE/ES/FR/IT/PT and vice versa).
I dont't remember if Dutch is taken in account.
Unlike Goggle, it's not purely statistical, AFAIR.
I used the predecessor of this sftware (SDL MT) designed as a plug-in for SDLX (installed on local PC).
IT was a a crap but it was 5 years ago, I suppose some improvements were made and it's no longer a joke.
In fact, if you submit this kind of data to a translation office, I suppose these data may be used for data mining, at least for the linguistic data (language model improvement etc.), so be careful.
I suppose a commercial version will be launched in approx. one year.
