I tried F12 when saving a new term whilst translating on Studio, but the shortcut does not work so I have to click the actual button. Has anyone tested this?

No, it works (SP1) but the focus must be on the Termbase Viewer.

If the focus is on another screen element (e.g. editor), nothing happens or the software throws an exception...

Have assigned a shortcut to add new term.

So it would be: my shortcut + F12. It is absurd if this does not work. Can you test it like this?

You define these shortcuts in Multiterm?

BTW.
I took a closer look on the shortcut list in the Studio options.
In the Editor section, F12 is reserved for Save as.
If you want to get help where the Save as command can be found and what it does, no info at all.
And apparently F12 does nothing in the editor.
The same command is available in the context menu on the Report view... and the shortcut is Ctrl + S
Surprisingly, you can't save reports using the main menu.
Amazing...

First, try to delete the F12 association in Studio...

I define them in the Studio. I deleted ths F12 association in the Editor shortcuts but there is no actual shortcut option for Save this entry, which is the command to save the entry.

So, could you make it work somehow?

Shortcuts... focus... Nov 1, 2009

I asked it because the shortcuts for Studio and MT are defined separately.
As Studio only invokes MT in the background, so, logically, I imagined the shortcuts should be imported from MT.
As I tested it (I replaced F12 by Ctrl+Q), now I know I was wrong, they are not taken from MT (the old F12 is still displayed in Studio even if both applications are restarted).
I.e. the Multiterm shorctuts are hardcoded somewhere in Studio and you can't change 'em.

I see.
Unlike in the Multiterm main applications, the shortcuts work only when you click on the right side of the Termbase viewer
When the focus is on the term list (on the left side), you have to click on the icons.

In plain words, the Multiterm-Trados interoperation is still a mess.
Studio 2009 SP1 9.1.1107.0.

Thank you Nov 1, 2009

for confirming this. I am really so surprised at the lack of testing there must have been in order to have workflow issues of this type, now on SP1. Seems that some people are accustomed to clicking their life away...

I can see that this has not improved at SP3. Can you confirm this?
