Hello,
I have a trouble in importing Winalign results. I generated a text file (Winalign results), and imported it into Workbench. However, none of the results were imported, and the following message appeared.

Import finished successfully. 232 TUs read in 0 seconds: 0 updated, 0 added, 232 invalid.

Please advise me how to fix this problem.

I use Windows XP, Office 2003, and SDL Trados 2007 Suite Freelance.

Check the language locales Nov 8, 2009

If you generated an EN-US to German (Germany) project in WinAlign, but now attemt to import it to an EN-GB to German translation memory, you will get such situation.
This is the most probable and common reason for what you are experiencing now.
If this is the case, open the txt-export with any texeditor and replace the wrong language code with the correct one, ie EN-US with EN-GB. Then your import should work.

Before you do anything else: backup your TM! You can do that by copying the TM files or by exporting the TM into a txt or tmx file.

Importing is one of the riskiest functions of Trados. It can corrupt the database irrepairably. It is a serious flaw in the program that you do not get any clear instructions when the import fails, nor any warnings about the risks involved.

After you've done that, look at the language settings. That's usually the problem. If one of the languages is English, you have to make sure it is the right 'kind' of English (EN-US for example), namely the Englishvariant of the TM.

If you happen to have another language variant set you can fix that by opening the txt file with the standard Windows text editor and replace the language code (EN-US, for example) with the correct one (EN-GB for example). Use "Search and Replace" to do that.

If all language settings in TM and aligned file correspond to one another import should work fine.
