Is there a tool/utility that would make it possible to locate strings in ttx files. The windows search utility cannot do it.

thanks.

Total Commander or UltraEdit Nov 10, 2009

Both are commercial but with free trials. The first one is a file manager I couldn't work without, the other is a very useful text editor. The important thing is that you should check the Unicode or UTF option when searching text in TTX files. I'm pretty sure there are free alternatives to those apps as well.

You can use:

- Total Commander. Go to your directory, press Alt+F7 and check "Find text" and "Unicode".

- Copernic or another desktop search program

- ApSIC Xbench

You can use ApSIC XBench to search strings. Download it from the website, install the software. You can create a new project and load TagEditor .ttx files to search any string. ApSiC has improved the software implementing the use of regular expressions.

Many thanks Nov 12, 2009

I had X-Bench and didn't even know I could use it for this. It did the job.

Many thanks for your speedy feedback.
