Workbench Freezes Up During Large Text File Import

Hi all,

Thanks for reading.

Just like the title says, I'm having trouble importing a Trados exported text file containing a lot of translation units. It "imports" 68000/68000 of them (the total), and then freezes up. I've waited up to 30 minutes for it to unfreeze and move to the analyze screen, but it hasn't.

Any suggestions? I don't want to split the file or change it to TMX for import.

... unfreeze and move to the analyze screen...

Why on earth should it want to move to the analyze screen?
Any suggestions?

Just start doing whatever you wanted to do next.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

By "analyze", this is what I mean:

Thanks.

Hi Avantix, if you want, put the TM file somewhere on-line and I can try the analysis on my PC - drop me a line at
tomas (dot) mosler (at) centrum (dot) cz
then.

It may be a bad file or huge file.

How much free disk space do you have? Jan 4, 2010

It could just be, that your disk (cache) can not handle that much. Defrag the disk and try again.

btw, cutting the import file into pieces - I know I know - is surely a way out of the bind.

Thanks for the help.

The problem was that there were about ten 20,000+ column character lines that were causing Trados to freeze up inevitably. Following removal of those lines, everything worked smooth. 500k translation units, ftw!

Thanks again.
