Translating with Studio and then use the TM with Tag Editor

Hi you all,

One of my clients has sent me some XML files to translate and the .ini file. The problem is that the .ini file will just work with Tag Editor. My question is: Can I translate the files with Studio using and then, exporting the TM, translate the files with Tag Editor? I tried to make a test and it worked with some 4/5 sentences, but I want to be sure that the segments will be the same.

Any ideas??

Thanks

Angel

It should work Jan 20, 2010

Just export TM from Studio as tmx and import it in Workbench - should work fine

I will try with one of the short files and let you know! I hope it also works with longer ones (some of them are 10,000 words).

Beware of formatting Jan 20, 2010

My experience between Studio and TagEditor is that the format tags were not compatible... This was for a Word file, if I remember well.
It may work with XML, but in case you have some HTML tagging, it's worth checking...

Has anyone experienced something like this with XML?

didn't work Jan 20, 2010

Well, I am afraid it didn't work. When I open Tag Editor, using the same TM as I did with Studio (of course) I found that some if the segments in Tag Editor contained some tags that ere not in the TM, so I had to copy/paste the text again adding the tag.

It may be because I don't have the .ini file for Studio (something which the client couldn't send me).

Does anyone know if that could be the reason?

why don't you... Jan 21, 2010

...try using Studio alone for translating the ttx files? The settings/tags specified in the ttx file will be preserved in this case.

Hi Zoltán,

It didn't work that way. We tried that with the client but it didn't work.

Thanks anyway
