I have noticed that the insert key (used in various key combinations e.g to copy source into target field, etc.) also toggles the overtype function (I think that is what it is called, I used to call in scroll lock but I might just be showing my age - it's the one that activates the mode when you type on top of existing text instead of in it, shifting it to the right as you type...).
I assume I'm not the only one who has come across this? any way round it?
