Trados- from an external HDD

I want to translate a lot of user manuals for soem very similar devices. So a lot of the instructions are repeated, with a lot of similarity.

Source and output are both MS Word and I am working on a PC.

English to Arabic.

Can I install Trados on an external hard disk and use it from there?
I don't want to invest in the software and training, only to have my company's IT support department issue me with a new computer and take it all away.

I realise it might be slower than usual.

Data on HDD, program on PC Feb 2, 2010

Hi Furat,

You can save your data to an external HDD, but elements of the program will have to be installed on your system hard disk (registry, etc.).

I think the program files could also be on the external hdd in addition to the data files.

Take care to show correct paths when installing.

Best regards,
