I`ve translated a ppt file using Tag Editor. I can`t seem to get a cleaned file - I`ve tried using both the clean up option and the save target as option.
I get an error message that says: unable to locate original file (file name and directory path).
Please copy the original file into the above directory and try again.
Both the original ppt and the ttx are in the same directory.
I need to deliver the file soon and am desperate for a solution!!!!!!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

File folders Feb 11, 2010

Hello Sue,
the PPT and TTX files don't necessarily have to be located in the same folder. However, it is vital that the PPT file is located in the folder where it was when you created the TTX file.
Your error message suggests that you moved the original PPT file after you had created the TTX.
You can:
1. Either move the PPT back to the folder where it was located when you created the PPT; OR
2. Open the TTX file in Windows Notepad, locate the SourceFilePath="" string and replace the file path between the inverted commas with the current location of your PPT file.

That should help.

...or create a new TTX from the PPT and fuzzy translate it... Feb 11, 2010

If you are in a hurry, perhaps it works if you create a new TTX right in the place where the PPT is, use the already-populated memory to fuzzy-translate that TTX and just clean it up (or save as target).

thanks so much - but, I tried that and it didn't work Feb 11, 2010

I tried opening the ttx in notepad and replacing the file path name with source file path with the new location for the ppt file with no luck!

Filename? Feb 11, 2010

Are you sure they have the very same name? xxx.ppt and xxx.ppt.ttx?

Proceed as suggested by Edric Feb 11, 2010

That's my only advice then. Although I think you must be making a mistake somewhere in the process.

I hink it must be in same folder Feb 11, 2010

I just had the case today and (wih trados 2007) it works only if the ttx and the ppt are in the same folder, though it is no the original folder of the ppt. And i does not work the other way.
