Arabic problem with Italic Fonts
Thread poster: eshazly

I have encountered an issue when translating an English doc file to Arabic using Tageditor in Trados 7.1. The problem is all italic style text is written in target as squares and are not readable. I tried coping them to word, they appeared correctly.

This problem only occurs with text written in italic style fonts.

Please, HELP.

italic variation of a font Feb 17, 2010

Maybe the font used for the file didn't have a italic variations.
most of Arabic font are no bold or italic variations of a font.

Hi Sorour,

You are right. the problem is a font problem. This problem is solved when I used another font. but the same problem occurs when using the "Arial" font although Arabic supports Arial italic font and when translating the file in Word it works.
Is there any way to add a font to Trados?
