Hi,

Any idea how I can preserve a link in a doc file? I am working on a doc file with Trados 8 and, as you probably know, when you open a segment that says, for example, "Learn more," and has an embedded link, you translate the phrase and lose the embedded link. Any idea how to keep the link embedded in the translation, too?

TIA,
Noha

Use Hyperlink Apr 28, 2010

Hi Noha,

In .doc file select the target text>click right mouse button>choose Hyperlink. From the dialog box choose the destination.

For this; first click the source, copy the link path, and then do as suggested above.

I have suggested this; from what I have understood from your query.

Regards,

Sushan

An idea ( how to do it manually) Apr 28, 2010

Just copy the source link to target in English. Then in Word, when you have your clear target document, go to the hyperlink in English, and follow this path:

right-click the hyperlink > edit hyperlink > text to display ( and enter the text in your target language)> OK > the text will change

It may be possible to do this directly in TagEditor, try it.

Edit hyperlink while in Trados Apr 28, 2010

Hi, I work with Trados 2007, so I am not sure whether this also works with Trados 8:
I copy the source into the target with the "Copy source" button, like Sushan and lingua, but I edit the hyperlink in the target directly while the TU is still open.
Slightly OT: The downside of all those methods is that it's a lot of work considering that it is only paid as two ordinary 100% or Fuzzy matches (for "Learn more").

Trados 8 and Trados 2007 are one and the same version, aren´t they?

Hello Noha,
I'm afraid you are wrong.
Trados 2007 is in fact v. 8.xx (latest version 8.863).
Trados 2009 is in fact v. 9.xx (latest version 9.1.1264).
