Converting bilingual Doc file to clean *source* file with Trados?

Hi all,

I was wondering how to convert my bilingual Doc file to a clean source file, so only the original source text is in there?

I am using Trados.

The original source docs have been lost, and now only the bilingual files exist. I'd manually take out the text, but it's quite a large file!

Thanks if so.icon_smile.gif

Search-replace May 15, 2010

The most obvious method is to search and replace attributes.

Suppose the following
- All target text is formatted in color Auto.
- All source text is formatted as Hidden
- All markup text is NOT formatted in color Auto

Now you perform several search-replace operations:

Search > Replace
color Auto AND NOT Hidden -> "" (replace with nothing)
style tw4winMark -> "" (replace with nothing)
Hidden -> color Auto, NOT Hidden OR Select All and unhide

Of course this is an example only, look for attributes (color, size, font, style, whatever) that are appropriate for your document.
