using SDL TRados 2009 SP 1

Translating from English to Arabic

After translating the whole file and finalize it

The target file does not have the formatting of the source file (Bold,Underline,Italic)

in the editor view inside trados, the format of the target text is same as of the source text,
But in the final file that i have to deliver to the client, there is no format

It maintain the position of the text, but what about formatting ???

You do not provide the requested information May 16, 2010

When posting about a CAT tool or other software program, include the product name, version, your operating system, and any other relevant details will avoid confusion and allow you to get or give better assistance.

What is the source format?
Do you use tag view? Did you check, that all tags are present?
Are the necessary fonts installed?

Post screenshots May 16, 2010

Perhaps it might be a good idea to post a screenshot of the relevant portion of text in Studio and in the target file.

My two recommendations:
1. Definitely, upgrade to SP2.
2.
140 person read this and no one answer??????

I don't know how punctuation works in the Arabic world, but I understand multiple question marks as irritation. Is irritation what you meant by your post?

what about Tags ? May 16, 2010

SDL Trados 2009 SP1
Win XP SP3
Office 2007

Source Document format *.doc (Word 2003) (English) (Arial Font)
Target Document format *.doc (Word 2003) (Arabic) (Arial Font)

The missing format in target file is (Bold,Italic,Underline),
In editor View in the target column it appears correctly just as in source format

all fonts installed (Arial)
Can you told me more about tags????

Switch the tag view in WYSIWYG environment and check if tags are present in target May 16, 2010

However it is strange, that you say you see the formatting in your target column - this would also mean tags are present there, but checking is the only way to be sure.
No tags = no formatting in the target regardless what you see on the screen in Studio.
Formatting is always done by tags - so if any of those are missing, the formatting will be missing too.

If tags do appear correctly in the target column May 16, 2010

then the formatting of the target text should be correct.
If the formatting is incorrect, then something is wrong. but I'm afraid I can't tell what.
Try another format - Word 2007 for example. You could use the TM and translate some sentences in W2007-format to see, if it works.

Strange May 16, 2010

but at least you could process the file in W2007 format and preserve the formatting that way.
