Source document size recommendations

Are there any recommendations as to the size of source documents in SDL Trados? At the moment I'm working on a fairly big document, basically a long data list, so there are o lot of rows but most of them are quite short. If I open it in Word it's about 50 pages with 2000 paragraphs and 9000 words. Obvioulsy the translation memory is saving me a lot of work but it seems to go slower the more I translate. Should I split the source document into several parts?

9000 words should not constitute a problem May 19, 2010

If there are large pictures you may consider removing them.

Usually when Trados slows down, it's because of graphics embedded in a Word document.
