So I do a search & replace in my project, close up, and next time I open the project the changes are still there, but I see from Concordance that this hasn't registered in the memory. What am I doing wrong? Is there an easy way to include all this in the memory?

Ta in advance,

Mervyn

Important: Concordance only looks at main memory/memories. After you create a project, the project only looks at the project memory.

Therefore, if, after doing your search and replace in the project you are working on, you fail to *also* go through the "update main memory" (under "batch tasks"), you won't see the changes when running a concordance.

Hi Mervyn,

Tobias is sort of right but I wanted to add some clarification here.

First of all in Studio you can use multiple Translation Memories so a concordance search for example can look at more than just the Project Memory.

Secondly, you don't have to use a Project Memory. The Freelance version of Studio (since SP1) creates a Project without using a Project Memory by default so you will always be using your Main Memory anyway. If you want to use a Project Memory you have to specifically make this choice when you create your Project.

Finally, even if you do use a Project Memory the concordance will still look up the Main Memory you selected in the first place.

Where Tobias is spot on I think, is that you have changed the sdlxliff (the bilingual file you are working on) but you have not confirmed the changes in the Memory. So the way to do this is to select Batch Tasks and then update Translation Memories.

Regards

Paul

Many thanks Tobias and Paul ... May 30, 2010

... I understand, but what I did need was the Batch Tasks. Now it all seems to have changed.

Bye,

Mervyn
