Hi,

We are using Trados 2009 (well, we have it, but don't actually use it that often). We just received some 'unclean' sdlxliff files from a translator so we could update our tm, but we have no idea how to do this. There isn't anything like 'clean up' and all the translation units have already been confirmed - so we can't just run through it again...

Could someone help please?

Thanks
Natalie

Hi Natalie Jun 8, 2010

There is no clean up function in SDL Trados Studio 2009. To update your memories please press Project -> Batch Tasks -> Update Main Translation Memories or Update Project Translation Memories

To update your TM's Jun 8, 2010

Hi Natalie,

Two ways to handle this.

1. Create a Project for this file, select the TM you wish to update as part of the project and then run the Batch task to update the TM as Myron suggested.

or

2. Open the Translation Memory you want to update and then import the sdlxliff.

Then second is faster, the first gives you a chance to make sure you are happy with the results before you do it.

If you decide the first is the way to go then a good trick might be to create a Project for each Main Translation Memory you work with (I have no idea if this is practical for you or not as I don't know how many TM's you deal with) and then just add the sdlxliffs to the Projects when you get them. This way you won't need to keep creating projects every time you need to do this.

Regards

Paul
