Hi friends,

I have Trados Freelance 7.0, Windows XP and Office 2003. I tried to export my memory (which consists of some 61700 units) but was unable to do so. Someone suggested me to Reorganize. When I tried to do so, the Workbench was stuck after analyzing 6200 units.

One of my colleagues has opined that it might be due to the lower version of processor and/or less RAM. My processor is Pentium (R) 4 CPU 3.00 GHz 2.99 GHz and RAM is 0.99 GB. I wish to ask the experts before buying a new computer with the latest processor and more RAM in order to overcome this problem.

Thanks and regards,

Your hardware is perfectly OK Jun 9, 2010

Though, I would double the RAM in order to get better performance.

It seems that your TM is corrupt.

It is recommended to export the TM periodically, for cases when the TM corrupts.

Everything matters, the question is: in what degree. Your CPU is ok, so you'd rather check:
1) How much free RAM you have right after the logon?
(check TaskManager /ctrl+alt+del/ and terminate unnecessary & devourers)

2) How much free space is available on your HDD?
(your active disk partition should be at least 15% free)

3) What are swapfile values?

4) Is there any possible conflicting software or other restrictions?
(try temporary disable your Antivirus scanners etc)

Just make sure you've got enough mem and then retry the process having TaskManager runing in background. Quite possibly that it's just the TM incongruity.

P.S. Don't work with files right from a removable drive! Never.
