I've picked up a translation assignment from a client with a lot of ISC files.
However, when I analyse the files, I obtain twice as many words as the client does when they run the analysis. The other translators working on this project also get the right number of words.

From looking at the files, it looks as though as the printing text (size of picture, printing details, etc...) all show up as translatable text, which I think is where the problem lies.

Anybody got any suggestion???

TM Jun 10, 2010

Has the client provided you a translation memory file? Maybe they use a TM when running the analysis and the difference between your and their analysis lies in the 100% matches...

Printing instructions Jun 10, 2010

Well, I think I've worked out what's wrong, but not how to sort it out.
It seems that I get all the printing instructions from the original files as text rather than hidden within tags.

Does anybody know how to solve this?

I've got a copy of the TM from the client, so at least I know that this isn't where the problem comes from.

Hide the text Jun 10, 2010

If the source files are Word docs, you can hide the text which is not to be translated.
Select the text in question > Format > Font and check the Hidden box.

Good luck!

ISC files Jun 10, 2010

Thanks

Unfortunately, it won't work as the original file format is ISC.
What puzzles me is why it only affects me.
I guess I'll have to live with it.
