Hi,

one of my clients asked if I would be able to provide him with the TM for the project done, but since this wasn't asked for in advance I've already translated using my general TM.

Does anyone know an easy, effective way to locate the relevant segments in the TM and create a new TM containing only them?

Thanks a lot
Aviram

several options Aug 14, 2010

But first of all which Trados version are you using?

The easiest way is to create a new empty TM and clean the relevant files into this TM.

In Trados 2007 and previous versions, you can also use the export feature but that's a touch more complicated. I'd opt for the above suggestions.

Just send Aug 14, 2010

the TTXs or uncleaned docs to the client. He just needs to clean this docs and his TM will be updated.

An alternative Aug 14, 2010

Rebekka's solution is the best. An alternative, particularly where you have a large multi-purpose TM and want to avoid too many individual TMs, is:
- Before starting, close any open TM
- in Settings / User ID, change to a unique name, e.g. your customer name
- translate as normal. All segments will now include the new name
- on completion, export your TM, first setting the filter for "Created by"
This will export only those segments. Do not forget to reset your UserID.

Another option Aug 16, 2010

All the above will work, and the following will too (it's worked for me on occasion):

If you know when you started this particular job, and you did not work on any other jobs in Trados while you were working on this one, you can export the relevant segments to a new TM. In the "Export" function there is a filter, and you can set the "created on" date to be greater than (>) the date/time on which you know you started the job.
