Hey!
I have translated an Excel file in SDL Trados 2007 and got the following error message when trying to convert it back to .xls:
Connection with server application error:
Error en el Método Delete de la clase Characters.
Any hints?
I have also opened the source .xls file using Tag Editor and got the same Error message after translating it and trying to convert it back to .xls.
It is quite urgent so any help will be very much appreciated!
Cheers,

4. Excel file cannot be saved as target in TagEditor
This message is an Excel error message. Excel does not accept sheet names that exceed 31 characters, blank sheet names, and/or sheets that contain characters such as : \ / ? : * []. When translating Excel files make sure to observe these rules.
In particular, this may be important when translated Excel files are converted back into their original format, e.g. on a TeamWorks server or via GXT. Before submitting the translated TradosTag files, you should try to save the file as target in order to ascertain whether there are any worksheet naming problems. If this is the case, please take care to adapt the worksheet names to conform with the naming requirements of Excel.
With TRADOS 7, users can avail of the Excel Verification plug-in for ensuring that the Excel file does not contain invalid characters in the worksheet names and also that the length of the worksheet name does not exceed the 31 character limit.

When you save an xls.ttx file as target, you should have the source .xls file in the same folder, select it and confirm overwriting. When the file is not there, the message you mentioned usually appears. | | |
Thanks Luisa and Adam, but unfortunately none of those seem to be the problem.
I have checked all of your suggestions but get the same Error message...

You could save the XLS file as XLSX (the Excel 2007 and 2010), translate that using your TM, and try saving as target. If you don't have Excel 2007, you can download "Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint File Formats", which is free on Microsoft's website, and you will have the necessary options for saving in your older Excel. | | | Unfortunately... | Aug 20, 2010 |
Nothing worked here. Apparently there was some kind of problem with the Excel file and there was no possible way to convert it.
I had to resort to the "Copy-Paste Method"
Thanks for all the suggestions!
Cheers,
