Trados Word compatibility

Hallo,
I want to invest in Trados software and wanted to ask the following advice:
- Is it recommendable to get the latest Trados 2009 Office Suite? I have heard some of the earlier versions are better

- Are all the trados versions compatible with Word 2007?

- I have heard that translators here in Proz club together and buy Trados as a group. Can anyone give me information on how this works?

Depends of what you really mean Aug 23, 2010

SDL Trados 2009 Studio is fully compatible with Microsoft Office software from version 2000 to 2007.
The compatibility with Office 2010 is given, but not yet fully confirmed and supported.
As for the "older versions were better" - this depends on your point of view.
I would never sign this, but again it is personal.

An action on SDL Trados Studio seems to be still active there.
