Hi all,

I'm translating a Framemaker document in Tageditor. It contains several tags that I do not recognise and so I do not know where to place them in the target text (e.g. a line break will not necessarily be in the same place in the source and target, but a formatting tag has to go around the same words).

Some examples:

<t-4>
<t$>
<V>
<$>
<z14>
...

Can anyone recommend perhaps a site which lists such frame maker tags?

Thanks.

Use the help file to S-Tagger Aug 23, 2010

You will find a very detailed description of all tags there.

Oops! Aug 23, 2010

Oops, wasn't thinking re: the tags! Have fixed it.

I've located S-tagger (didn't know it existed - know nothing about Framemaker!) and am installing the help file.

Thanks.

Hmph Aug 23, 2010

Seems Vista can't read the S-tagger helpfile, and the patch i've just downloaded doesn't solve the problem.

So i'm still without a tag list - can anyone possibly provide one?!

S-Tagger is part of Trados Aug 23, 2010

In Trados program group, subgroup Filters.
Simply start the prgram there and use the help.
It contains a fully detailed list of S-Tags.
t-4 for instance is most probably spacing.
But I do not know the tags by hard, so I would need to look myselficon_smile.gif

A list of tags Aug 23, 2010

Except for the "v", which is a variable (a text that will be inserted in the place of the tag and which you normally translate in a file called Ancillary), the rest are a bit obscure.

You can see a list of tags here.

I had already come across that page, but I couldn't find any of these tags (the dollar sign, the t-4...).

If all else fails, I will just keep them in the same place in the target text, but for personal development ;o) I would like to know what they mean!

Looks like QuarkXPress Aug 23, 2010

Hi,

maybe you might want to have a look at http://files.quark.com/download/documentation/QuarkXPress/8/English/Guide_to_XPress_Tags_8_US.pdf . The tags you mention seem to be QuarkXPress Tags rather than FrameMaker tags.

E.g. <t-4> tracking, <V> superior, <t$> probably tracking off, <z14> change font size,...

Regards,

Bernhard
