Your software version is quite old Sep 6, 2010

Without knowing more I would just suppose the ttx file has been created with an Excel version not supported by your software or with a later version of Trados .
Could you check the creation tool of the ttx file? Open it in Notepad, the file heading will tell you the creation tool.

Windows 7 is quite new ;) Sep 6, 2010

Hi

I checked it in Notepad: the ttx was created with the same version:

CreationTool="SDL TRADOS TagEditor" CreationToolVersion="7.1.0.719"

Even if am creating a new xls and try to open it in TagEditor, the mentioned error message occurs.

My Software might be bit older, but it all worked fine with Windows XP, problems started with Windows 7...

This might be due Trados 7 being not compatible with Win7 Sep 6, 2010

Or maybe you have a newer version of Office on your system?
However in Win7 you could simply try to use the Trados software in the WinXP emulator, which is integrated in some higher Win7 versions. If not, maybe you could use Microsoft VM with XP - I am utilizing this in Vista 64.
