Error report in TagEditor 2007 with just 1 PPT file

Hi,

I am having an error report that made close the program, but it happens exclusively with a PPT file that I wasn't allow to Analyse before. I tried sending and not sending an error report several times. It seems that the file has something wrong since TagEditor works fine with other files. What to do in this case? Maybe can I tell the client to check the file? I have no clue...

Please make the TagEditor window approximately half width of your screen Sep 14, 2010

I do not know your setup, but please reduce the width of your TagEditor window by 30-40% and try again.

It is hard to describe why that works, what I suggested.
But if that does not help, then the PPT may be somehow corrupted.
You could try to repair the presentation in PowerPoint.
Start PowerPoint, do not open the file via double click. In PPT chose the Open file dialog, navigate to file and chose "Open and repair" instead of "Open". Save the repaired file.
Try with that one.
If not, try other formats. If source is PPT 2003, save as 2007 or vice versa.
Use OpenOffice to open file and save as PPT.

If all does not help, then I'm out of ideas.

Hello Jerzy,

I did it in the "Detect and repair" from the Help menu, that was the only similar thing I could find. It didn't work either, unfortunately.
I only have the 2003 version and I don't have OpenOffice.
I think I should tell the client to repair the problem himself.

I refer to "Open and repair" in PowerPoint Sep 15, 2010

Again: start PowerPoint, press CTRL+O to get to file open dialog, navigate to file and select it.
On right bottom corner of this dialog window you will find a button "Open" and an arrow pointing down. When you click it, you can select "Open and repair".

When I click the arrow pointing down at the right of the Open button I only have: Open, Open and Read only, Open as Copy, and Open in Browser (which is shaded).

Where else can it be?

Sorry - I did not check PPT 2003.
But you could use OpenOffice instead - that would open PPT and repair it.

Don't worry. I will contact the client first to see if he has any solution, if not, I will try OpenOffice that could take me longer because I have to download the program first.
