Trados 7 with word 7 Thread poster: Marion Delarue
|
Hello, I have installed TRADOS 7 in my computer and I use Tag Editor regularly. Now I would like to use Trados with word 7, but I don´t know how to do it. I thought I had to open TWB and then word, but in my word document, no Trados icons appear. How should I proceed? Thank you very much. Marion

It was released much before Word 2007 appeared. I assume with Word 7 you meant that one. Otherwise that would be Word 95?

Trados 2009 Studio is a compleltly new software with a completly new GUI. It is different from earlier versions - you do not have the split in Workbench and editor anymore. There is also no Word interface for SDL Trados 2009 - Word files are processed in T2009 directly and without Word.

Another question: If I install an old Word 2000 back into my computer, would I be able to use Trados 7? Thank you again

This will work. When you install the software now, you will just need to copy the Trados7.dot template in the Word startup folder.

There is NO "Word 7"! According to version numbering Word 4 and 5 were the latest Word versions for DOS, with Word 5 relesed in 1990. Then there was Word 6 for Windows, followed by Winword 2, and then Word 95, which could be considered the Word 7 version. But I hardly believe you are using that one.

Sandrine Zérouali wrote: I use Word 2007 with Trados 7. This is unusual and strange, as Trados 7 is not supposed to run with Word 2007. The set of macros necessary for that has changed due to changes in MS Visual Basic, so the Trados7.dot template is not supposed or even should not work with W2007. However I have already heard that it works - but due to the fact it is not supposed to do so, I cannot offer any support in getting it to work. The same applies for the MultiTerm template.
