I have a doc. that I should translate it on SDLX trados studio 2009 but when I convert the file to sdlxliff format it shows a lot of tags that makes it unable to read and so translate. is there anyway to remove tags or change the document in a way that has less tags?
what should I do? HELP

thank you in advance

Aazaadeh

probably a pdf Sep 25, 2010

Your doc file was probably a pdf conversion and is full of spacing tags between characters.
If you can, clear all formatting from your word doc, or, if you don't want to lose all the formatting, then select the whole file and then give it a single font, set kerning to 0 and scale to 100%. These setting can be accessed by pressing ctrl+D (character settings), 2nd tab.
Then open this doc in Studio.

It will work Sep 25, 2010

You have to recreate your SDLX file after having reformatted the Word document as Emma suggests.
You can also apply a common font to all segments.
Convert the file to Word 2007, check the filter settings if ignoring of advanced formatting like kerning or tracking is allowed and try with that file.

Get David Turners CodeZapper Sep 26, 2010

Next time you should try CodeZapper, it removes those tags in one run.

Heinrich
