Hi all!

I have just downloaded and installed the shiny new Trados 2009 Studio Service Pack 3 version, upgrading from the existing SP 2 Studio 2009.

Unhappily, upon installation and PC restart, Trados will not open at all. Up pops an error message saying:

"Unexpected exception when getting view part instance of view part Resultados de traducción."

Unexpected indeed! and alarming, as I need to get working!

I have found threads with similar problems, that require certain files to be deleted, but these files simply haven't been generated in my case.

Does anyone have any idea what is going wrong and how I may work around it?

Any thoughts much appreciated.

p.s. I am using Windows 7.

Hi Joshua,

The files are here in W7;

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\9.1.0.0\.

BaseSettings.xml
plugincache.xml
UserSettings.xml

Close Studio, delete them, and restart. They will be recreated and it may help.

If you can't see them maybe you have the folder hidden? Go to My Computer, click on Organise in the tool bar, select Folder and Search Options and then in the next window select the View tab. Now make sure that you have checked Show hidden files, folders and drives. Then look again.

Regards

Paul

Hi Paul,

You were right! The files were hidden.
I followed your instructions and deleted them. The program is working fine.

Thanks so much for your quick reply.
The solution has come as a great relief.
